Umpqua Valley Youth Orchestra:
UVYO is a non-profit organization offering classes from pre-beginning through the advanced levels. Registration began on Thursday, September 5th. Families may also register for classes in January after the winter performance. Classes are open to all violin, viola, cello, and string bass players. . . or those who have never played a stringed instrument and want to get started! Approximately 140 students are involved in this program, and each class meets once a week for group rehearsals. Students range in age from six to adult. While participation is open to all students in Douglas County, the majority of students are homeschooled. Auditions are for placement; all interested students will be accepted into the program. There is an annual fee per student (with a maximum fee per family, which benefits larger families). There are no monthly fees unless students rent an instrument at a low monthly rate. UVYO holds a winter and a spring concert at Jacoby Auditorium at Umpqua Community College. |
