If you have a budding artist in your family and are looking for a truly good art class, one of our local homeschool moms suggests UCC's Community Ed classes with professional artist Shane Slayer. She and her 15-year-old daughter took his human body class a few terms ago and were amazed at how much they learned. She had this to say: "Now when I see another human, I really look at them differently. Wow, is God ever an amazing creator!" Mr. Slayer is very encouraging and has lots of stories to tell during class...while he draws and teaches.
This term (Spring 2013), Mr. Slayer will be teaching Drawing Animals and a Beginning Techniques class on Tuesdays starting April 16th and ending on May 21st. Drawing Animals is from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and Beginning Drawing will be from 6 to 8 p.m.. The cost is $49/student...but worth the instruction time! You will need to provide your own drawing pad and drawing pencils. Her family is signed up for the Drawing Animals class. She wanted to share this info with the hope of getting a few more students in the class. Last quarter, they were signed up to take his flower drawing class, but it was cancelled due to lack of enrollment. If you have any questions, or you would like to sign up, you may contact Umpqua Community College at 541-440-7744.
